MESSAGE OF LOVE AND RESPECT FROM LAS VEGAS SHOOTING VICTIM

A Facebook post by Las Vegas shooting victim Thomas Gunderson has more than 17 Million views (and counting) and over 406K shares. Why? Because he is a light of positive thought, love, and respect in the midst of continual negativity. President Trump and Melania visited the University Medical Center in Las Vegas to speak with the victims and staff on October 4. Even though it caused Gunderson great pain to stand and shake the President’s hand, he did so anyway.

“I will never lie down when the President of this great country comes to shake my hand!
There may be plenty of issues in this country but I will always respect my country, my president and my flag. Shot in the leg or not, I will stand to show my President the respect he deserves!” Thomas Gunderson

Thomas was shot in the leg after doing what he could to help the victims. After being shot, with blood spurting all over his leg, he crawled behind some bleachers. He was located by two off duty female officers, who immediately tied off his leg with a belt to stop the flow of blood. Then they enlisted men to help carry him out to safety. He has not forgotten them. He also saw Americans coming together in times of need.

He posted this on October 2nd, one day after he was shot in the leg:

I want to say this right now while it’s fresh. People PLEASE listen to me! There are bad people in this world, but tonight, I saw every race and gender come together to save lives and protect each other. I had women tie my leg up to stop the bleeding, I had men carrying me on their back to safety and I had many black officers and civilians holding my hand and staying with me every second of the way. Our president is far from perfect, but the divide this country is being created by media and the select few cases that they spread world wide. But you don’t get to see the good in people. I’m lying in my hospital bed right now in tears, not because I’m injured but because I did my best to save lives and not once did I see color or gender. Nor did anyone else. My friends, please please take a step back, turn off the tv and go love the person next to you. Black, white, Mexican, straight, gay or anything else. Love on them and show that we are united as one in this country and NO ONE, no matter how hard they try, can’t break us! Ever!

He even asked his followers not to respond to any negative posts, although that’s usually an exercise in futility. His positive attitude is the reason that post went so far. He is a proud American!

President Trump and Melania were in Las Vegas yesterday to visit the victims and the first responders in the wake of the Las Vegas shooting. According to one reporter from News 12, the hospital staff said that the first couple stayed over an hour past their scheduled time, showing compassion and encouraging those who were injured.
